MET Synergises AADHAR with CSR

MET Institute of Management under the aegis of MET Centre for Innovation in Organisational Positivity, in collaboration with NIPM organised a seminar on ‘Synergising AADHAR program with CSR platform, so as to sharpen the donor - beneficiary focus’ on 22 March 2013. The recent government directive to companies to spend 2% of their net profit on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has propelled CSR from the fringes to the mainstream of corporate consciousness.

Prof. Vijay Page, Director General of MET Institute of Management extended a warm welcome to all the distinguished guests, faculty members and students.  He elaborated on the wider impact of CSR on the society and the need for the corporate to contribute towards the well being of the society.

Mr. Prashant Khambaswadkar, - Chairman NIPM (Bombay Chapter) & CEO of Universal Group; enlightened the audience by elucidating the unique ways in which business houses can use the AADHAR cards for the benefit of the society to implement CSR. He conveyed a special thanks to Dr. Farida Virani, the Chairperson for her efforts in planning and coordinating the collaborative endeavor between MET and NIPM.

A presentation by MET students on ‘The Logistics solution to CSR & Food value chain’ highlighted the importance of removing inefficiencies in the Public Distribution system with the help of AADHAR. Mr. Hirak Mukherjee, Head APAC, Quinnox Consultant; gave valuable insights on AADHAR card. He stressed on the importance of implementation of AADHAR card system and various ways of utilizing it to monetize the expenses.

Dr. M. K. Chouhan, Chairman - Mahendra & Young Knowledge Foundation, Vice Chairman - Global Advisory Board, Asian Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability stated that the corporates should focus on Environment-Social-Economic (ESC) the triple bottom line model. He stressed on the difference between profiteering and profit making and on the sustainability aspect of business.

Mr. V. Ayyappan, Director, CSR: Taj Group of Hotels; pointed out the utmost importance of business to giving back to the society. He gave example of numerous CSR initiatives taken up by TATA.

Mrs. Mrinalini Kher, Hon. Secretary & Trustee - Kherwadi Social Welfare Association; enlightened the audience about the outstanding work done by Kherwadi Social Welfare association. She expressed her faith in AADHAR system in helping segmentation of deserving candidates.

Prof. Vijay Page, Director General MET thanked everybody present for attending the seminar and making it a grand success.
