Best Teacher Award by the Higher Education Forum
On 5th September 2011, Higher Education Forum (HEF) celebrated Teacher’s Day at H R College, Churchgate, Mumbai. HEF is a leading on line community of individuals & practitioners of higher education in India. It has a membership of 3000+. Its motto is to help the development of an Indian higher education system that is world class in terms of quality & excellence. Since last year this group has commenced a unique initiative of felicitating some outstanding teachers for their contribution to the field of education.
This year the function was held at H R College of Commerce and Economics, Churchgate. The nominations were considered from varied disciplines like Engineering, Graduation and Postgraduation (science and humanities), Management (postgraduate) and medicine. Dr Sunita Mahajan was awarded HEF and NUCSOFT Best Teacher award for her outstanding contribution to Teaching (Information Technology). Free Press Journal brought out a special edition ‘Knowledge’ for teacher’s day where this function was covered. A brief introduction was given about Dr Sunita Mahajan saying that she was a part of the BARC team who developed first supercomputer ANUPAM-860 based on parallel processing technology in 1990. She worked as lecturer for MCA and PGDCSA course at SNDT women’s university for three years. She has contributed to various national and international symposia and workshops and written about 30 papers. Currently she has directed research in Data mining, distributed systems and grid computing.
