MET Institute of Mass Media presented the play ‘When God Said Cheers’. The play was written by Anurag Kashyap and directed by Cyrus F Dastur. The Cast included Padmashree awardee veteran actor Tom Alter, Cyrus F. Dastur, Auxilia Sequeira and Vikrant Sakhalkar. It has subtle humour and good jokes, involves a free-flowing conversation in a lighter vein and tackles topics that have remained very relevant in recent times. Mr. Dastur plays the role of a common man in the play while veteran actor Tom Alter plays God and Vikrant Sakhalkar and Auxilia Sequeira act as cafe owner and singer, respectively. This performace was dedicated to the former President of India, renowned scientist and author A P J Abdul Kalam.
Despite the laughter, ‘When God said Cheers’ took the audience through a profound discussion on contemporary issues that plague mankind or mysteries of the world at a local pub and what followed was a volley of questions and answers... something that we've always wanted to ask our Maker but never got the chance. And God in his inimitable style casually retorts "You're the one who asked for it!"
The play was a big hit and got a fabulous response because it connected with everyone at some level. The event was managed by the M10 students pursuing their PG in Mass Media in Advertising, Journalism and Entertainment.
