International Association of Trichologists (I.A.T.), Australia
The International Association of Trichologists (I.A.T.), a non-profit corporation, was established in 1974 to promote the study,
research and legitimate practice in all aspects pertaining to the treatment and care of the human hair and scalp in health and disease, and to supply comprehensive instructions and training in the professional application of this scientific specialty. The trichology course was developed at the University of Southern California during 1974-75.
The I.A.T.:
- Administers the educational trichology programmeto students wishing to specialise in trichology.
- Establishes standards required of people wishing to become qualified trichologists.
- Conducts examinations and certifies those students attaining the required level of knowledge and expertise in trichology.
- Sets and maintains ethics and standards for qualified trichologists who are members of the I.A.T.
Membership of the International Association of Trichologists is open to those students who pass the final exam of the trichology programmeand have completed their required clinical training. Members must abide by the I.A.T. Code of Ethics. The trichology programmeis administered as a correspondence programmeand through some colleges of technical and further education.
