Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics: Bench to Bedside

A one day seminar on 'Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics: Bench to Bedside' was organised on 9 December 2016 at MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree). Therapeutic drug levels are very important for achieving clinical success. The seminar included presentations by some of the very esteemed speakers in the fraternity. Dr. Prashant Bodhe, Consultant, Clinisearch spoke on 'Bioavailability/Bioequivalence Studies: Needs and Regulatory Perspectives'. This was followed up by Dr. Amita Karnik, Director, Technical at Pell Tech Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. who emphasized on the 'Relevance of Current Batch-centric Bioequivalence Studies'. Dr. Krishna Iyer, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Bombay College of Pharmacy explained the 'Basic Pharmacokinetic Concepts in Dosage Regimen Design' whereas Dr. Girish Gudi, Vice President - Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals elaborated on 'Applications of PK/PD in Drug Development'. The seminar concluded with the importance of 'PK/PD Characteristics of Medicine in Intensive Care' by Dr. Abdul Ansari, MD, Director, Critical Care, Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai. During the event students of third year and final year B. Pharm. also presented posters, which were judged by Dr. Rita Lala and Dr. Rupali Tasgaonkar.
