MET League of Colleges - Global Shapers - MTHR Global announced the path breaking launch summit ‘Industry Student Skill Development Platform’ that rose a new generation of young and dynamic leaders, role models and achievers for India. The program was launched during a 3-day summit on 6th - 8th September, 2013.
The summit started with a full day foundation session bringing together almost 350 students from Mumbai and Nashik campus. Eminent speakers like Sangeeth Varghese and Yatin Borkar were present to mentor the full house of students. This session provided a kick start to the program, where students understood how to use the program pack and workbook for the next two months. The day witnessed a highly interactive, student driven sessions covering aspects such as Decide to Lead, Conquering Fear and Building Confidence, Wriggling Out of Your Comfort Zone, Setting and Achieving Big Goals, Preparing a Killer Resume, Communicating to Impress, Facing and Acing Interviews.
The second day witnessed the full day conference on the theme of “Raising a new generation of youth leaders, role models and achievers” The conference was attended by senior industry leaders and MET students. During the conference the industry leaders were asked to be student mentor and address them through their life stories. The conference was addressed by distinguished speakers like Dr Anil Khandelwal (Ex Chairman - Bank of Baroda), Ashwin Sanghi (Novelist), Mukesh Manik (Founder Encyclomedia) and Dheeraj Gupta (MD, Jumbo King). This conference followed a unique format, where the speakers pours out his life journey in front of the students. The sessions are not only highly inspirational, since most speakers came from humble backgrounds, but also provide the students a live role model to emulate. The conference concluded with a Quiz program.
The summit concluded with half day sessions on life transformations from John Hunter Murray, a NLP expert on the third and the final day. The sessions were conducted on the theme of “Campus to Corporate” equipping students on various skills required such as communication, leadership, teamwork etc.
Overall it was a unique experience for all the students who learned so many things at one platform. They acclimatized with the professional way of working, got inspired from mentors, top leaders and CEOs, explored themselves with the help of Profilers and exercises, learned team work and leadership through self actualizing teams and also exhibited talent to overcome stage fears. Probably this is one of the reasons why our students have been defining the symbol of sharpness since the past.
