MET receives the Global AICESIS MDG Award
The honour was bestowed at Rome, Italy.
Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) received the globally coveted AICESIS MDG award at a glittering ceremony in Rome, Italy, on July 21, 2011. International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) is an inter-governmental organisation in observer status with the United Nations ECOSOC, striving to attain the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). AICESIS is composed of almost sixty members from four continents (Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe). The award jury comprised of eminent personalities like LI Xueming of China (Asia), Gérard COKER of Guinea/UCESA (Africa), Margarita Bravo and Beatriz Martín Nieto of Spain (Europe), Ana Lucia Starling CDES of Brazil (Latin America), Michele DAU - CNEL of Italy (AICESIS Presidency), Hanifa Mezoui - AICESIS General Secretariat (UN).
The Laureate from India - prominent educationist CA. Sunil G. Karve, Founder, Mumbai Educational Trust, was awarded this prestigious trophy. “MET was chosen amongst entries from many countries to be given this AICESIS MDG award 2010 for our exemplary work in the field of education and our consistent efforts to serve the cause of the socially disadvantaged. I was invited to Rome by AICESIS. As I held the trophy in my hands, in the august presence of the President of Italy, I couldn’t help but think of the passion, commitment and support of the MET family that has made it possible for us to accomplish this rare honour”, said CA. Sunil G. Karve, who received this award amidst the presence of the President of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Giorgio Napolitano, besides eminent dignitaries, officials and VIPs from across the continents. Mr. Samir Bhujbal, Trustee, MET and Prof. Vijay Page, Director General, MET Institute of Management, who were present at this grand ceremony, have commended this rare honour. Back |
