Marketing Summit 2009

MET Schools of Management organised a Marketing Summit on October 30, 2009. The theme of the meet was “Marketing Strategies in Tough Times”. The invitees for the meet were veterans from the industry, who shared their valuable experience in form of a Panel Discussion.
The summit was inaugurated by Prof. Vijay Page, Director General - MET IOM, who gave a brief introduction to the topic and a strong momentum to the event. The Keynote speaker for the meet was Mr. Jagdeep Kapoor, MD - Samsika Consultancy. He presented the Key Brand Shastras for successful marketing specially in the eve of tough times. The presentation by Mr. Kapoor was very insightful and immensely benefit, clearly evident in the quantum of questions raised during Q & A. This was followed by MET management students’ (Zeenal Shah & Kalpana Kumeria) 10 mins presentation on the day’s theme.

High profile panel comprised of Mr. Prabhat Pani, CEO - Roots Corporation Limited, Mr. Gautum Gulati, COO - KIAH, Ms. Aditi Dandekar, Brand Manager – Camlin that  was chaired by Mr. Rohit Mull, Executive Vice-President and Head - Marketing at HDFC Bank India. The panel discussion lasted for about an hour & half, during which numerous view points were brought into picture from various industries per se. One could understand the ways and means adopted by the Banking sector and how different were they with respect to a Hospitality sector. Strategies right from low involvement product category like stationary to high involvement category like jewellery were discussed. After an intensive round of panel discussion, forum was thrown open to the MET students, who were enthusiastic enough to ask bold questions that allowed them to correlate the industry experience with theoretical knowledge.

The discussion was brought to an appropriate finish by the Valedictory address given by Mr. Vivek Kamath, C.E.O - Apollo Hospitals. He shared his views regarding the topic and gave a crisp insight into the industry to which he belongs. This was followed by vote of thanks by Brig. Nag, Director AMDC.
