Return of the Combat

The much awaited and looked forward to debating event of MET Schools of Management, MET Combat was back with a bang, in the New Year. The Semi Finals were held on 7th January, 2017 and were judged by two alumni Ajay Shetty and Jeenal Patel and Dr. Preeti Shirodkar. After battling it out, in the Semi Finals, two teams the MMS HR and Operations team and the eMBA Junior team rose to the challenge, in the Finals, from among 13 teams, who participated, in the competition. The final clash of the debating titans was held on 9th January, 2017, on the topic - "In the opinion of the House, delaying spending on renewable energy sources is being penny wise pound foolish." eMBA Juniors were declared as the winners and Mr. Anand Choupane was awarded the Best Speaker prize. A special prize was awarded to Mr. Bhavin Mehta. The debate was judged by Mr. Ranjeet Dalvi, Retd. CSO, Head of Strategy and Business Excellence for Siemens South Asia, Ms. Deepali Bhide, Associate Professor, Department of Geography, D.G. Ruparel College and Dr. Preeti Shirodkar, Associate Professor, Communication and Soft Skills, MET Institute of Management. Following the debate, the event was thrown open to questions, from the audience, and the teams very effectively defended their stance, even post the debate,with a perfect blend of their oratory skills and research acumen.
