MET Redefines Women Empowerment

On the occasion of International’s Women’s Day, MACCIA (Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture), the Apex Chamber of Commerce in the State had invited Ms. Preeti Shirodkar, Associate Professor, Language Studies, MET IOM, to deliver a talk on Women Empowerment. The event was organised at WKB's Seva Mandal’s Arts and Commerce College for Women, Deopur, Dhule with talks by various prominent professionals, who shared their views on the need for women empowerment.

Ms. Preeti Shirodkar’s talk was well received by the audience which comprised students and faculty of WKB's Seva Mandal’s Arts and Commerce College, Dhule and women entrepreneurs of the Women Entrepreneur’s Committee of the Chamber. The other dignitaries with whom Ms. Peeeti Shirodkar shared the stage were the Collector of Dhule District, a well known advocate working for the cause of women’s rights in Dhule, Ms. Deodhar, a prominent architect who spearheads construction projects in Mumbai, Mr. Bang, prominent industrialist in Dhule district, Mr. Santosh Mandlecha, Vice President MACCIA and Ms. Nilima Patil, Chairperson Women’s Committee, MACCIA Nashik. Ms. Shirodkar’s talk threw light on some startling facts and figures which set the tone of the talk. Thereafter she highlighted ways and means by which women could be empowered so that they can live with dignity in society and emerge as contributors and drivers of the economy, maintaining that for a progressive society it was important that men and women worked together as human beings rather than basing their attitudes on divisive gender bias.
