MET Institute of Pharmacy (Diploma) organised an educational field visit to Maharashtra Nature Park, Dharavi, for First Year Diploma Pharmacy students on 22nd January 2026. A total of 41 students participated in this enriching visit aimed at enhancing their understanding of medicinal plants, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability.

The park, developed by MMRDA on an erstwhile dumping ground, stands today as a thriving mini forest with over 14,000 trees and more than 300 varieties of plants. During the visit, students explored various sections including the Butterfly Garden, Medicinal Plants Garden, Nakshatra Van, and the Rainwater Harvesting Pond. They were introduced to numerous medicinal plants such as Shatavari, Gymnema, Gokhru, Brahmi, Tulsi, Curcuma, Vasaka, and Arjuna, along with their botanical names and therapeutic uses.

Students also gained insights into vermicomposting, ecological conservation, and the role of such green spaces in urban environments. The visit successfully blended academic learning with environmental awareness, making it a memorable experience filled with knowledge, curiosity, and appreciation for nature.
