MET Institute of Management organized the AICTE ATAL Sponsored Six-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Sustainable Healthcare & Med-Tech Ecosystems: Leveraging ESG and Project Management under NEP 2020 Framework” on 31st August 2026.

The inaugural session featured a welcome address by Dr. Nilesh Gokhale, Professor & Director I/C, MET IOM, and an overview of the FDP by Mr. Sandesh Akre, Assistant Professor, MET IOM & Co-coordinator, ATAL FDP.

The session also featured the introduction and felicitation of Mr. Virendra Shukla, Senior Management Professional & Visiting Professor, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, who conducted the first session on “Strategic Leadership and Business Excellence in Sustainable Healthcare Ecosystems.” The session explored key themes including SWOT, preventive and curative care, leadership, healthcare excellence, sustainability, innovation and green hospital infrastructure.

The session on “Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Med-Tech and Social Enterprises,” was led by Dr. Nirmal Surya, Founder Trustee & Chairman, Epilepsy Foundation. As a distinguished healthcare leader and Hon. Trustee of MET, Dr. Surya shared valuable perspectives on the role of innovation, entrepreneurship and social enterprises in transforming the healthcare landscape.

The session explored how Med-Tech innovation and entrepreneurial thinking can address evolving healthcare needs while creating solutions with meaningful social impact. Dr. Surya’s experience and insights encouraged participants to look beyond conventional approaches and consider new possibilities for healthcare delivery and accessibility.

An insightful session on “Cancer Screening & Early Detection” was conducted by Dr. Kunal Oswal, a healthcare and public health professional with 16+ years of experience across healthcare, public health, CSR and community development.

The session provided valuable insights into public health, preventive healthcare and emerging approaches to healthcare delivery, encouraging participants to look at healthcare through a broader and more community-oriented perspective.

On the Day 2, the first session was led by Mr. Chinmay Ingole, Investment Risk Manager & Healthcare Professional, who introduced participants to the S.T.R.E.S.S. Framework for Healthcare. The session explored how healthcare systems can identify and manage potential shocks by examining scenarios, transmission, resources, economics, service continuity and safeguards.

The second session, led by Ms. Renjini Liza Varghese, Founder & Director, WriteCanvas, focused on ESG in healthcare. The session covered the Environmental, Social and Governance dimensions, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, healthcare’s supply-chain footprint, waste management, climate action, sustainability accreditation, data privacy, workforce safety, access to medicines, pricing equity and community health outcomes.

On Day 3, Dr. Dhananjay Mankar, Assistant Professor, Centre for Hospital Management, School of Health Systems Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, conducted a session on “Telemedicine and Digital Health Ecosystems".

The session examined the architecture of digital health ecosystems, emerging technologies such as telemedicine, AI, Electronic Health Records and wearables, along with the business, economic, regulatory and patient-safety aspects of digital healthcare. Participants also explored the systems involved in telemedicine and the regulatory and ethical guardrails governing its implementation.

The day 3, featured Dr. Arati Adhe Rojekar, Senior Consultant, P. D. Hinduja National Hospital and Research Centre, Mahim, Mumbai, who addressed “Circular Economy in Healthcare.” The session highlighted the shift from a linear “take–use–dispose” model towards resource-smart healthcare, focusing on sustainable procurement, reuse and reprocessing where safe, material recovery, waste management and resilient healthcare systems.

On the day 4, the session was led by Ms. Sheetal Sapale, who explored “Artificial Intelligence & Healthcare Analytics: From Data to Decisions.” The discussion focused on how AI and analytics are transforming healthcare and the pharmaceutical value chain, covering healthcare data sources, AI-enabled drug discovery and development, wet lab and dry lab research, and the growing role of AI in the commercial side of healthcare.

On the final day an insightful session by Dr. Sridisha Banerjee, Assistant Professor, Vivekananda Global University, on “Precision Health Technology and Data-Driven Care” was held.

The session explored the evolving role of technology, data and Artificial Intelligence in transforming healthcare delivery. Participants gained practical insights into AI-enabled healthcare systems, data-driven decision-making and emerging technologies shaping the future of healthcare. An engaging AI-based activity on prompt generation further encouraged participants to apply AI tools practically and understand the importance of effective prompting.

MET Institute of Management successfully concluded the AICTE ATAL-sponsored Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Sustainable Healthcare & Med-Tech Ecosystems: Leveraging ESG and Project Management under NEP 2020” on 5th September 2026.

The valedictory session reflected on the key learnings from the six-day FDP and was addressed by Dr. Nilesh Gokhale, Director (I/C), MET Institute of Management, who highlighted the importance of applying these insights towards building sustainable and future-ready healthcare ecosystems. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Sandesh Akre, Co-Coordinator, ATAL FDP.

The FDP stands as a testimony to MET IOM’s evolving interdisciplinary management education ecosystem, bringing diverse domains into management learning beyond traditional approaches.
