MET Institute of Management organized a one-day Industrial Visit to the Western Railway Depot, Mahalaxmi, for first-year MMS students on 12th November 2025. The visit was coordinated by faculty members Mr. Sandesh Akre and Mr. Gaurav Deshmukh, and students were warmly welcomed by Shri Lalit Kumar, Deputy Chief Material Manager, who conducted a guided tour of the depot.
The visit offered students valuable insights into depot operations, including scrap material categorization, auction and disposal processes, and recycling practices. It enhanced their understanding of materials management, asset utilization, and sustainability within a public sector framework. Students also engaged in discussions on auction procedures, safety audits, and revenue generation, making the visit an enriching blend of academic learning and real-world exposure.
