The CNN-News18 Mumbai Town Hall held on 13th August 2025 was a powerful platform that brought together political leaders, cultural voices, and citizens to reflect on the city’s future ahead of the BMC elections. Students of MET Institute of PGDM got the opportunity to attend this insightful event, where the discussions offered not just perspectives on governance but also timeless lessons in leadership, strategy, and decision-making, giving them first-hand exposure to real-world dialogue on policy, vision, and leadership.

Key insights included Devendra Fadnavis emphasizing the importance of preserving Mumbai’s unique identity instead of emulating other global cities, while Aaditya Thackeray highlighted the need for sustainable growth that balances infrastructure with environmental and cultural priorities. Adding further depth, voices from politics, arts, and literature, including Nitesh Rane, Yogesh Kadam, Mohit Suri, Meghna Pant, Ashok Pandit, and Priyam Gandhi Modi, linked governance with creativity and society.

For leaders and managers, the takeaways were powerful as the discussions underlined how democracy thrives on direct dialogue with stakeholders, how development must remain inclusive and sustainable, and how leadership under public scrutiny mirrors the very challenges faced in corporate and academic life.

At MET Institute of PGDM, we believe such real-world forums are invaluable, as they showcase how vision transforms into policy and action, offering meaningful lessons in communication, strategy, and leadership. These values lie at the heart of our PGDM programme as we prepare future managers to lead responsibly, inclusively, and with foresight in shaping a better tomorrow.
