MET Pharmacy Receives Indian Patent for Innovative Hair Gel Formulation

MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), has achieved a significant milestone in pharmaceutical research and innovation, with the institute and Dr. Bandoo Chhagan Chatale, Assistant Professor, MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), being granted an Indian Patent by the Government of India, Patent Office, for the invention titled “KETOCONAZOLE MICRO SPONGE LOADED IN A NEEM HAIR GEL.” The invention focuses on a novel topical gel formulation containing ketoconazole microsponge and Azadirachta indica extract, demonstrating antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties with enhanced therapeutic efficacy.

The patent, bearing Patent No. 601362, was granted on 03 September 2026, with MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree), Mumbai, and Dr. Bandoo Chhagan Chatale named as the patentees. The innovation was developed by Ms. Kashmira Chaudhari, Ms. Daksha Chache, Ms. Ankita Panda, Ms. Bharvi Patil and Mr. Aditya Kathale, Alumni of MET Institute of Pharmacy (Degree) whose collective efforts contributed to this achievement in pharmaceutical formulation and research.

This recognition reflects MET Institute of Pharmacy’s continued focus on research-driven learning, innovation and the development of solutions with potential applications in healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences.
