MET Institute of Management hosted an engaging session with Mr. Vinit Goenka, Secretary, Centre for Knowledge Sovereignty, who introduced students to the vision behind the Master Mentors Geo-Enabling Indian Scholars (MMGEIS) initiative and highlighted the transformative role of mentorship in shaping perspectives and encouraging curiosity.
Mr. Goenka elaborated on the growing importance of geospatial technology and its applications across weather forecasting, agriculture, defence, transportation, infrastructure, mining and disaster management. He also highlighted the contribution of distinguished mentors including Shri. A.S. Kiran Kumar, Dr. K. J. Ramesh and Lt. Gen. Girish Kumar.
The session provided insights into the MMGEIS mentorship model, combining online learning, expert interactions and exposure to real-world applications of geospatial technology. It also highlighted how technology, mentorship and strategic thinking can come together to address real-world challenges, with MET students being given the opportunity to participate in a consultancy project and contribute their management and strategic expertise to the initiative.
