MET Institute of Computer Science (MET ICS) inaugurated the Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “AI-Driven ICT Tools and Smart Techniques for Education and Research” on 9th March 2026.
The program began with an inaugural address by Dr. Omprakash Mandge, I/C Principal, MET ICS, who highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies in transforming education and research. Guest speakers Dr. Pooja Raundale, Director, Board of Examinations and Evaluation, University of Mumbai, Dr. Suhasini Vijaykumar, Principal, BVIMIT Navi Mumbai and BOS Member for MCA, University of Mumbai, and Dr. Rasika Mallya, I/C Director, NMITD and BOS Member for MCA, University of Mumbai, shared insights on AI-driven ICT tools, digital assessment, and innovative teaching practices.
The first session, conducted by Dr. Omprakash Mandge, provided hands-on training on AI tools such as ChatGPT, Khanmigo, and Eduaide.ai.
On the 2nd Day of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP), a session on Mentimeter and NotebookLM was conducted by Dr. Kirti Wankhede.
Dr. Wankhede demonstrated how Mentimeter can enhance classroom engagement through interactive features such as live polls, quizzes, and word clouds, encouraging active student participation. Dr. Wankhede also introduced NotebookLM, explaining how it helps educators organize research materials, summarize documents, and generate insights for academic writing using AI.
The session was practical and engaging, providing participants with hands-on experience and encouraging them to integrate AI-based tools into teaching, research, and classroom interaction.
On the third day of FDP a session on Using Agile Methodology for Teaching was conducted by Prof. Bhushan Gaonkar, Assistant Professor, MET Institute of Computer Science.
Prof. Bhushan introduced the principles of Agile and explained how concepts such as iterative learning, collaboration, flexibility, and continuous feedback can enhance the teaching–learning process. Prof. Gaonkar demonstrated how classroom activities can be organized like Agile sprints and scrums to promote teamwork, accountability, and problem-solving skills. The session was interactive, and faculty members gained practical insights into implementing Agile techniques for a more dynamic and student-centered learning environment.
On the 4th day of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “AI-Driven ICT Tools and Smart Techniques for Education and Research,” organised by MET Institute of Computer Science, a session on Mendeley was conducted by Dr. Dhanamma Jagli, Assistant Professor and Deputy H.O.D., Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology.
The session focused on the effective use of Mendeley as a reference management and academic collaboration tool. Dr. Jagli demonstrated how to create a Mendeley account, import and organize research papers, and annotate PDF documents. She also explained how to install the Mendeley plugin in MS Word to automatically generate citations and bibliographies in formats such as APA and IEEE, helping faculty manage literature efficiently and improve academic writing.
On Day 5 of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “AI-Driven ICT Tools and Smart Techniques for Education and Research”, Prof. Chetna Achar, Assistant Professor, MET Institute of Computer Science (MET ICS) conducted a session on “Instrument Design to Statistical Analysis”.
The session focused on developing effective research instruments such as questionnaires and surveys. Prof. Achar explained key steps including defining research objectives, framing unbiased questions, and ensuring reliability and validity. She also introduced participants to JASP, an open-source statistical software for analyzing research data. Through a practical demonstration, faculty learned how to perform descriptive statistics and reliability testing. The session enhanced participants’ understanding of instrument development and statistical analysis in academic research.
