MET Institute of Management conducted an insightful workshop on 16th April 2026 in collaboration with The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) Academy, aimed at building awareness around responsible advertising and ethical communication practices. The session was led by Ms. Esha Vaidya, Senior Manager, ASCI Academy, and Ms. Sharlene S, Manager, ASCI Academy, who brought industry-driven perspectives and practical insights to the classroom.
The session adopted a highly interactive format, beginning with a live quiz and team-based activities that encourage active participation among students. The speakers highlighted the growing influence of advertising in the digital age, noting that individuals are exposed to thousands of advertisements daily across platforms such as social media, e-commerce, and product packaging. They introduced the role of ASCI as a self-regulatory body that ensures transparency, fairness, and consumer protection in advertising practices.
Through real-world case studies and engaging discussions, the session delved into key aspects of responsible advertising, including misleading claims, influencer guidelines, dark patterns, and ethical considerations in brand communication. The speakers also explained the ASCI Code and its principles, along with the complaint redressal mechanism, enabling students to understand both preventive and corrective aspects of regulation. The session concluded with an engaging exchange of ideas, leaving participants with a deeper understanding of ethical advertising and its relevance in today’s business environment.
