On the 29th of July 2023, the DLLE committee of MET Institute of Pharmacy orchestrated a field excursion and volunteering endeavor in collaboration with 'Earthen Routes', a non-governmental organization dedicated to supplying organic produce from urban gardens to the children at St Jude's home for children with cancer. This home is located within the premises of The Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), which is part of the Tata Memorial Centre.

In light of the recent heavy rains that had inundated the city, student volunteers joined forces with Ms. Vrushali Keer, IOP staff member to restore and prepare the gardens. Their efforts involved clearing the land of unwanted plants and readying it for post-monsoon plantation. This was achieved by constructing vegetable beds using bricks and implementing various techniques to prevent soil erosion.

Additionally, the volunteers had the opportunity to gather colocassia leaves, which were earmarked for the hospital kitchens to serve the patients. The students exhibited remarkable enthusiasm and actively engaged in these activities, acquiring a wealth of new knowledge and skills along the way.
