From the Director’s Desk
“Objectives are not fate, they are direction. They are not commands, they are commitments. They do not determine the future; they are means to mobilise the resources and energies of the business for the making of the future.”
- Peter F. Drucker
Your decision to study management therefore is the key to your bright future. The future managers are apprehensive about their future, post completion of management program. The dawn of 2009 started with the legacy of 2008 like Global economic melt down and threat of terror. There is bad liquidity crunch, job lay offs, exports are reducing and major and reputed companies are asking for ‘bail out’ or becoming bankrupt. The management students are worried about their future as the effect of global economic slow down reverberates in India too.
I would like to convey to our future students that they need not worry for the present state of world economy for the reasons appended below:
- India is not facing the recession which means negative growth. In fact, India is still poised for 5% to 6% GDP growth.
- The effort by governments of various countries to bail out their economies would soon bring back the world economy on proper track.
- Though the effect of global economic slow down is being felt in India, situation is likely to improve in 12 to 18 months.
- By the time the students of current year batch pass out, the world economy would be vibrant and growing again.
- We envisage no problem regarding placement for the students of current year batch.
- We are making concerted endeavor to increase international placements.
This should remove all doubts about the economic situation, future of the students and placements. We and our team of eminent visiting and core faculty comprising of experts from the industries as well as the guest lecturers would however keep you updated about the overall current world business scenario from time to time.
The magnificent infrastructure of MET, the air conditioned modern classrooms with LCD /OHP and wi fi facilities as well as the latest training aids, provide the perfect environment for studies. The huge library with books and magazines on almost every topic provide stimulus reading in relevant subjects. We also have a team of excellent faculty members, always willing to guide and help the students. It is an autonomous course and the syllabus is properly updated keeping in view the needs of the industries and corporate sector.
The big play ground including international quality lawn tennis courts, cricket pitches, volleyball court and football field allow sufficient opportunity for physical activities. We encourage extra curricular activities to promote talent and hobbies. The MET Utsav organised on our Annual Day exhibits good all-round quality talents of the students. MET World of Music (MWM) is an unique innovation which helps the students not only to relax but also get catapulted to Musical Meditation. We also encourage our students to carry out various social services to help the poor and the needy people. MET has also adopted a village near Vasai and the staff as well as the students are involved in providing all kinds of help to the village.
We attach a lot of importance to students’ personality development, soft skills and communication skills. We work on their etiquettes, mannerism and attitude. We try to groom them to become the best employable and the most acceptable in the corporate world.
I would like you to prepare well and be determined to get selected to study management at MET AMDC. I would like you to be focused and be ready not only to work hard but also to perform consistently throughout your career. Remember what Jack Welch had said: "It’s a Marathon; it’s not a sprint. Ten years, fifteen years. You have got to get up everyday, with a new idea, a new spin and you have got to bring it to work, every day."
I wish you good luck. Let your entry into MET AMDC be the harbinger for many laurels in the future.
