Insured for life

Three sharp METizens from the eMBA (Insurance) programme will leave for on an 'all expense paid' trip to London. The reward is the result of a perfect score on a brain tickling quiz at the
'Vision for Indian Insurance Industry' conference organised by Indian Merchants' Chamber. Over 60 students from top insurance institutes across India participated. The dignitaries present included Union Minister for Civil Aviation - Praful Patel, Deepak Parekh, Chairman - HDFC Ltd.,
D. K. Meherotra - LIC Chairman, Niraj Bajaj - IMC President, M N Chaini - IMC Vice President and Prabodh Thakker, Chairman of IMC's Insurance Committee.
Apart from visiting the prominent insurance companies, these students will have an opportunity to interact with some of the best.

At this prestigious IMC event, a path breaking research study on the 'Insurance penetration – special focus on the Mumbai Bomb Blasts (July 11, 2006)' was presented. The research and analysis prepared by METizens formed the back bone of this paper.
The paper received appreciation from all the dignitaries including Praful Patel who said, “the untapped potential for growth of insurance industry in the country is huge, as the penetration of insurance in India at present is very small, compared to developed countries”. Prabodh Thakker said “most victims of the Bombay train bomb blast did not have any insurance cover. The study shows how important was insurance cover for common people in cities like Mumbai”.
