This saying also relates closely to the Information Technology industry. IT's phenomenal growth in last 50 years shows that this Industry is in a continuous process of evolving and forever conquering new fields, may it be Medicine, Agriculture, Communication technology, Wireless communication, Mobile industry, the list is innumerable. What was a great innovation yesterday becomes a common knowledge today. Techno-savvy is the mantra of the day. To be really techno-savvy, learning process has to be continuous and this urge to be a student for life has to be developed by Gurujans (faculty) at Alma Mater. At MET, our dedicated faculty are striving to instill the importance of keeping the tempo of learning new concepts, technology, higher and higher. A graduate from MET Institute of Computer Science is constantly updating himself. Sharp minds exist everywhere at MET!

MET Institute of Computer Science was started in 2001 it conducts the Master of Computer Application (MCA) Programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai. MCA is a special programme designed to fill the gap between Computer Scientists and Computer Engineers.

They learn the hardware basics, operating system concepts, database fundamentals, SQL, data structures, programming languages C, C++ and also focus their attention on object-oriented concepts. It being a post-graduate programme covers advanced computing concepts in distributed systems, networking, wireless computing, file structures and databases. The mathematical background is provided by subjects like discrete mathematics and probability and combinatorics. The changing scenario in IT industry is covered by introducing latest subjects like wireless computing, parallel processing, project management, etc. as electives. The students also get an exposure to the corporate world in the final year where they do a full-fledged industrial project. Final semester includes one modern language like German, French or Japanese.

MCA is an intensive three-year programme and MCA Graduate is fully capable of filling the niche in managerial cadre. MCA covers technical as well as managerial aspects of computer applications. An MCA project trainee is fully capable of adapting to the requirements of the Company. Mumbai University has designed this programme with a careful thought to manifold demands of Computer Industry.

Ayn Rand's Fountainhead is a profound novel that clearly describes a man's creativity and capacity to create a better world. It shows how infrastructure and surrounding ambience helps in building a man's personality.

We have tried to implement this motto in practice by providing an excellent infrastructure and a studious atmosphere for our students. We have a well-stocked library, highly equipped computer laboratories, state-of-the-art classrooms and a reliable computer network. Besides, through interactive sessions with our experienced faculty, the students are technically as well as professionally groomed with communication and presentation skills. As an extra curricular activity, students can indulge in various indoor games at our recreation room as well as mentally relax themselves by listening to music at Music World, our fully loaded digital music centre. This helps to freshen their body and mind for the required hard work.

At MET ICS, we realise that we must give the students opportunity to flex their intellectual muscles apart from academic work. They are encouraged to explore other interesting avenues in computer field, especially in choosing final year projects. Our first batch of MCA graduates has proved that this approach is correct. They are to be lauded for their excellent performance in academics. Our first batch has produced 12 first classes and 5 distinctions and one University Topper!!! This is no mean feat for an intensive programme like MCA. The second batch also followed their seniors closely by producing 31 First Classes and 6 distinctions. Their successors will be no exceptions.

Our students have done their project training in many renowned institutes like Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Directorate of Technical Education and companies like Xorient, Datamatics, Tata Consultancy Services, Bristlecone etc. Their guides have given glowing reports about our students. They prove to be good workaholics, receptive to new ideas and extremely sincere in their project work.
