Mela times at MET
As part of the 2 Decades Celebration, MET League of Colleges held MET MELA on March 18, 2009 at the MET grounds. This event was well attended by over 2500 students, academicians, staff and corporates. Lighting of the traditional lamp by CA. Sunil G Karve, Founder – MET, marked the inauguration of the MET Mela. MET announces the 'Right to Vote' initiative
MET League of Colleges in association with Agni and Jaago Re.com inaugurated the awareness drive to create a movement for the youth, to select and elect their leader for the forth coming Lok Sabha elections. International Student Exchange
25 students visited MET on an International Student Exchange Programme. The students were Tablers from International Round Table, England and visited MET under the Young Ambassadors Programme. The students were mainly from Europe - England, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria.  The idea was to showcase the world-class infrastructure facilities and intellectual capital housed at MET. The students had insightful interactions with Prof. Sushil Bahl, Former Director - MET Institute of Mass Media and noted film director & MET faculty - Vikas Desai..

Cancer Cures Smoking
In order to familiarise students towards social & health causes, MET IMM invited the NGO 'Crusade against Tobacco' (CAT) for a special sharing session. Vincent Nazareth, from CAT shared valuable insights on 'Harmful effects of Tobacco' in an interesting and interactive manner. The session left a tremendous positive impact on the faculty and students.

Dynamics of Engagement Marketing
Rohan Mascarenhas, Director - Client Service, at Grey Worldwide Mumbai, unfolded some of the key techniques of Engagement Marketing (or Viral Marketing). His presentation was about strategies to spread your marketing messages through word-of-mouth communication. Engagement Marketing, he described as "A strategy to encourage individuals to pass on the message for exponential growth in exposure and influence." Like viruses in the computer, such strategies take advantage of rapid multiplication to explode the message to thousands to millions, he added. It was all about creating a BUZZ and leveraging media.
Workshop on Interpersonal Relationships
Internationally renowned trainer Kathiravan Pethi from Grooming Dales facilitated a short workshop on Interpersonal Relationship for the students. He took the students through role-play and explained how individual personality traits of individuals affected the thinking, emotions and actions of people in their relationships.
Creative Aerobics Workshop
Professor Linda Correll, Faculty from Department of Advertising, University of Florida, USA Facilitated a half-day workshop on 'Creative Aerobics' for the Advertising students at MET Institute of Mass Media. She has developed the concept of 'Creative Aerobics' a new creative ideation system that uses exercises for the left and right brain for maverick ideas and solutions in advertising.

Managing the 'Spotlight'
Ravi Shyam, CEO - Media Training Worldwide, India conducted a two-hour 'media training' workshop. This practical session shed light on various aspects and fine points of facing the media. Advertising students from MET Institute of Mass Media received practical tips on functioning as Senior Corporate Managers in an organisation. Mr. Shyam elaborated fundamentals of facing media and demonstrated using a video film, live recording, video playback & role play.

Amar K Deb, Former Head - Channel [V] delivered an interactive session on ‘thinking out of the box' at MET Institute of Mass Media. He addressed the pertinent question: In the crowded world of Indian cable television, channels across segments are in a mad race for eyeballs; so how does one appeal to the largest possible audience? He referred to how Channel [V] has created a branding for itself on television to differentiate it from its competitors.

Nationally renowned script and dialogue writer, Anjum Rajabali visited MET recently. He conducted a film-script writing workshop for the Mass Media students.
Sajid Khan delivers an interactive session
Sajid Khan was here for an informal tete-a-tete with the budding film maters at MET Institute of Mass Media. In his trademark tongue-in-cheek humorous style, he led the interactive session and shed light on the existing film making styles and trends. He explained the nuances involved in selling one's skills and talents to correctly exploit the film market. more>>
'FRIDAY' - India's first student tabloid
The students from MET Institute of Mass Media have spearheaded a journalistic initiative through 'FRIDAY' - a fortnightly tabloid. Targeted at the youth, the tabloid will feature articles and information on fashion, lifestyle, food, celebrities, finance, sports and Bollywood along with happenings in and around Bandra and Khar. 'Friday' is distributed complimentary at various outlets in and around Bandra. Launch>>>

International Victory
'Cut to — Mumbai', a short film made by students of Institute of Mass Media, has been short-listed to be screened at the Cape Town film festival. It will also be screened at other international film festivals. The film was selected from 800 entries at a film screening held at Cinemax in Andheri (West). The film deals with the social issues facing the city. The panel of judges included Anupam Kher and Nagesh Kukunoor.
National appreciation
Yoimayai Mongsaba and Prerna Tewari from the Institute of Mass Media participated in an audio-visual presentation competition held in January 2007 at IT-BHU (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi. The event was held as part of their tech fest e-motions. The competition attracted 40 teams from all over India. Their paper on Digital Intermediate (DI) was highly appreciated.
Film-making workshop
A film-making workshop was held for all the students at MET League of Colleges. The workshop was led by Sanjivv Shah, former Dy. Director - Entertainment - MET IMM. Mass Media students shared their experiences and course learnings during the workshop

Noted film director, John Mathew Mathan held an interactive session on film-making at MET Institute of Mass Media. He spoke about his upcoming projects. He also shared his experiences as a film-maker.
