Food for Thoughts

Often believed to be one of the more difficult of the photographic disciplines, food photography is the perfect tornado of all the technical challenges a still-life or video photographer can face. The subject matter is beautiful but also moody and fragile. It can turn on you when you least expect it. If you've ever photographed ice cream, which melts even before you can blink, you know what we mean.

MET Institute of Mass Media (MET IMM) organised a food photography workshop in the studio for the first time. During this 12 hour, mouth-watering workshop, national award winning film maker, Veena Bakshi along with ace cinematographers, Sameer Mahajan and Sanjeeb Das introduced students to the essential food styling techniques, including food storytelling, shooting styles, scene composition, post-production processes. The premise of this workshop was - If the food looks unappealing, so will the photos. And the photos were indeed lip-smacking!! The food photography workshop proved to be an enlightening experience for the PG students of Mass Media specializing in Advertising.
