IMM students Mentor!

MET Institute of Mass Media students Sourav Patnaik, Ruchikaa Kapoor, Janhavi Saraf, were invited to judge the ‘Mese en shot’ film making exercise. It was an intra-collegiate, individual student films festival (alternative to diploma films) by Xavier’s Institute of Communication (XIC). Manoj Lobo, Cinematographer (Mumbai Cutting & Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na fame), Tamil actress – Anuya were the other judges present at the event.

Judging XIC student films was a great experience in itself for the MET IMM students. Being student film makers as well, judging their counterparts was more of a learning experience.
The event started with screening of around 22 short films. Interestingly, students were asked to shoot within 20 mins and in a single shot (thus the name - mese en "shot"). The location had a lot of limitations in itself. What came out quite clear were the passion and the penance for film making. Students didn’t hesitate in flaunting their right to expression of thought. Each of them was enjoying the imprisonment within firm boundaries and emerged out as efficient story tellers. Films ranged from Freudian thoughts to simple HDFC bank ads. Fine actors gave a Midas’s touch to the films. Actress Anuya’s judgement on the same was welcomed by the students. Manoj Lobo gifted a student with a special prize - “Interview with Al Pacino”, the book for his wonderful performance. MET IMM students also gave out best critic films, best actor and top 3 films awards.

MET IMM student jury also spoke about the bright tomorrow that the cinema world is going to see. Well known film teacher and the chief mentor Vikas Desai, thanked the jury for spending some of their special moments at XIC.

What a Great Show MET IMM!
