Learning from the Media Stalwarts
MET Institute of Mass Media students recently attended the TED Talk at Yashraj Studio. The series is being produced by Fremantle Media Pvt Ltd, to be aired on Star India Pvt Ltd. Hosted by the legendary actor Shahrukh Khan, the show is based on Technology – Entertainment – Design. Some of the eminent guest speakers were Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director, Balaji Telefilms; Karan Johar, Director, Dharma Productions; Mitali Raj, Captain - Indian Women Cricket Team. Ekta Kapoor shared her journey of how Balaji happened, how after five rejects, her 1st show ‘Hum Paanch’ gave a super take off to her career. Padmashree & Arjuna Award winner, Mitali Raj shared her experiences and how masses support the sport while Karan Johar discussed the impact of social media on human relationships. He said that human expressions through hand written letters was far more impactful than communication via today's tech apps. Students were also exposed to how a Production, Creative & Technical setup of a reality show functions and how a show is shot with live audiences. "It was a valuable time of learning on the necessity of effective management skills, time, people & resources in the media profession", said a MET Mass Media student.
