Sports 2005- 'We all had a gala time!'

And why wouldn't they? It was an enthused morning full of fun, fun and more fun at MET Rishikul Vidyalaya's Annual Sports day on December 3, 2005 at Patwardhan Park, Bandra (W). Besides the exciting races for children, there were unique races for Parents, teachers, staff, housekeeping and even Grand Parents!!

"This is the second time we are having Sports day. This is a special event because it helps in building self-confidence in the children and brings everyone even closer to each other. The main aim thus, is motivation and the idea is participation." Says Manoj Lekhi, Director, MET Rishikul Vidyalaya, The children were dressed in beachwear, in keeping with the theme: MET Rishikul Vidyalaya's Beach Party. It was simply delightful to watch the tiny ones darting towards the finishing line all dressed up. There were still others who cutely took their own sweet time while their parents and other tiny friends cheered along.

The event was inaugurated by unfurling the Rishikul Flag attached to a bunch of colourful hot-air balloons. The flag soared high up in the sky as if encouraging each participant to reach the acme of success. First, the Junior KG children proudly marched forward. Quite a feat - most of them actually kept to the file! A colourful pom-pom drill by the Sr. KG children followed this. After the drill, the pom-poms were whisked away by parents who then doubled as enthused cheerleaders dancing to the booming peppy numbers. This was followed by a series of races for playgroup, Nursery, junior KG. The winners were awarded medals by the Guests of Honour - Sunil G Karve, Founder Trustee & Vice Chairman - MET League of Colleges & Pankaj Bhujbal, Trustee MET League of Colleges.

The second half of this eventful morning was full of exciting races for Parents, Staff, Teachers, Housekeeping and Grandparents; Needle and Thread Race, Bindi Race, Matka race, Shoe lace race, Balloon Race, Nail painting race, Shirt race and Bangle race; all kept the participants on their toes - literally!

The event came to a close after the vote of thanks and the National Anthem. Each person left with a song in the heart and a spring in the step!
