MET Lumiere 2013

Lumiere, the annual festival of MET IOP is scaling newer heights with each passing year. Standing true to its name, Lumiere, which means ‘the gleam of light’ - this intra-pharmacy event brings a ray of fun, happiness and excitement into MET IOP.

This year the excitement for Lumiere was preset by MET Utsav 2013. Keeping the celebration mood alive, MET IOP began Lumiere with the Spirit Week! Traditional Day, Character Day and Green Day were amongst the few days which kept the celebration going.

21st February 2013 marked the beginning of the three main days of Lumiere. The day began with indoor sports including Carrom, Table Tennis and Chess. Wrapping This was followed was ‘Khari Kamai’, being organised for the first time ever. Not only did it strike a hundred on the fun quotient, it also had a noble cause behind it.

The profits from all the food stalls have been proceeded to an orphanage, ‘The Vatsalya Trust’, which is serving the cause since 1983. The focus then was shifted to the stilt area where the non-teaching staff and the teachers had organized telematches for the students. The adrenaline rush which those one-minute games caused sometimes cannot be matched with the best of the sports.

Day 2 began early; the focus was on the ground where outdoor sports like Box Cricket, Volleyball, Throwball and Football were enjoyed by all at MET IOP, it witnessed fine display of sporting excellence. Leaving the fatigue behind, students shifted gear and plunged into the cultural events. The morning began with a few creative events like Rangoli, Nail Art, Mehendi, T-shirt painting, Origami and Rags to Ramp. While the fourth floor witnessed creativity at its best, the convention centre witnessed a mix of pharma-quiz and bollywood mazza! Antakshari, the movie event, duet prop dance and singing had the crowd tapping their feet the entire morning and afternoon.

The cultural evening began with the invocation dance followed by the certificate distribution to award the excellence exhibited by the MET IOP students in all frontiers throughout the year. Dr. U. B. Hadkar, Director – MET IOP, Dr. (Mrs.) Abha Doshi, Principal, MET IOP (Degree) and Dr. S. D. Bhosale Principal, MET IOP (Diploma) unveiled the annual publication ‘The Nest’. For the first time in the history of MET IOP, an e-version of ‘The Nest’ on CDs was launched too. The evening was filled with enthusiastic performances that had everyone involved, leading to a grand successful culmination of the event.
