New Trends in Pharma R&D


MET Institute of Pharmacy organised a one day seminar on the Trends in Pharmaceutical Research and Development on 21st December, 2013.

The seminar focused on the promising approaches in research in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Renowned professors from the academia and esteemed professionals from the industry shared their knowledge and experience. They introduced a new learning platform on the latest technologies in the above fields. They conversed about the shift from conventional research methodologies to more advanced research techniques and on the potential of research.

Dr Vandana Patravale, Professor Pharmaceutics, Institute of ICT educated the delegates on the current trends in pharmaceutical research and the importance of choosing the right approach to research. Dr Meena Chintamaneni, Associate Dean, SPPSTTM, NMIMS University shared her expertise on the novelty in pharmacological research. Dr Aarti Prabhu, Senior Research Scientist, Piramal Enterprises Ltd gave an insight on new drug discovery and development. Dr S.R. Kulkarni shared her thoughts on the dos and doníts of herbal research.

In addition to this, there was a poster painting competition. Students from various pharmacy institutes participated enthusiastically and showcased their creativity. The seminar concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, wherein the winners of the competition were rewarded with cash prizes.
