MET IOP’s Cutting Edge Seminar

'Perspectives in Clinical Research'

MET Institute of Pharmacy organised the seminar - ‘Perspectives in Clinical Research’ on February 04, 2012. Various aspects in clinical research were discussed. The seminar started by Dr. Arun Bhatt - President, ClinInvent Research India Pvt. Ltd. (Mumbai) on ‘Career Options in Clinical Research’. Dr. Bhatt addressed the pharmacy students, giving them an insight on the various career opportunities available for pharmacy graduates.  He also discussed the soft skills the students should develop before applying for jobs. The content of the seminar then became more scientific with the subsequent talk on ‘Overview of Clinical Development’ by Dr. Ajit Nair - President, Global Operations, SIRO Clinpharm. The financial aspects that govern the promotion or elimination of drugs in the drug development process were highlighted.  The various phases of Clinical trials were also discussed.  The importance of following regulatory guidelines in clinical research was stressed upon by Dr. Jitendra Dixit - Head Global Clinical Operations, Johnson & Johnson. He addressed on 'ICH-GCP guidelines: Role in Clinical Research' and spoke on the regulations which are mandatory in clinical research and their evolution.  The ethical aspects of conducting studies on human subjects were explained.  The seminar concluded with a presentation on ‘Life Cycle of Clinical Trial and Project Management Accountability’ by Dr. Rajesh Jain - Clinical Research Professional.  The audience was given an overview of the different key players in clinical trials.  Dr. Jain emphasized on the importance of project management in the successful completion of clinical trials. A major cutting edge seminar, which was well appreciated by all the participants who gained multifaceted knowledge. Thanks to MET IOP!
