Novel Updates by IOP

A seminar titled ‘Recent updates in Novel drug delivery systems’ was organised at the MET Institute of Pharmacy, Mumbai on December 10, 2010.

The inauguration of the event was done by lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Dr. K. K. Singh, Principal, C.U.Shah College of Pharmacy and Dr. Padma V. Devarajan, HOD- Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, Institute of Technology, Dr. U. B. Hadkar, Director - MET Institute of Pharmacy, Dr. Abha Doshi, Principal, MET IOP(Degree), Mr. S.D.Bhosale, Principal MET IOP (Diploma),
 
The event began with welcome address by Dr. Hadkar, who expressed gratitude to the speakers for accepting the invitation. He appreciated the efforts taken by Dr. Abha Doshi to make this seminar a huge success.  

Scientific Session -1 began with a talk on ‘Nanosuspension: For improved drug bioavailability and targeting’ by Dr. K. K. Singh who explained on how the performance of drugs with respect to dissolution rate is affected by the shape as well as the particle size. The next talk was on ‘Drug Delivery - A Journey with Nanotechnology’ by Dr. Padma Devarajan.

Scientific Session- 2 started with a talk on ‘Trends in oral drug delivery’ by Dr. Ashok Omray, Vice President, USV Limited.  The talk focused on the changes and concepts, which are evolved over the period for improving the therapeutic efficacy, patient compliance and site targeting of the drugs upon oral administration.

The last speaker Ms. Rajashri Ojha, M.D. ,Global Pharma Regulatory Affairs Consultant presented an interactive talk on ‘Investigational new drug application to FDA for clinical testing of NDDS’. She talked about Dossier Preparation & Submissions.

On behalf of MET Institute of Pharmacy, Dr. Abha Doshi proposed vote of thanks. It was a very enriching platform for all the participants who also expressed their willingness to such interactions in future too.
