Pharma’s Leading Edge

A seminar titled “Radiation and Radio-isotopes: Awareness and Applications” was organised at the MET Institute of Pharmacy, Mumbai on 6th March 2010 under the aegis of Indian Society of Radiation Biology.

The audience was welcomed by Dr. Hadkar, on behalf of the MET Institute of Pharmacy. Dr Pandey presented the welcome address on behalf of Dr. Goyal, President, ISRB. The event began with a key-note address given by Dr. K. P Mishra on “Nuclear Radiation and Human Health”.

Scientific session-I began with a talk on “Uses of Radiation in Cancer Care” by Dr. N. G. Huilgol, Chief Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital. The talk on “Biological effects of radiation: New Understanding and Challenges” by Dr. B. N. Pandey, Radiation Biology and Health Sciences Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre followed next.

Session-II was based on applications of radioisotopes. Dr. Grace Samuel, Radio-pharmaceutical Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, delivered a talk on “Radiopharmaceuticals: Preparation and Quality Control”. The last speaker was Dr. Archana Damale, Radiation Medicine Centre (B.A.R.C.), C/o Tata Memorial Centre Annexe who spoke on “Radio-Isotopes In Biomedicine”.
On behalf of the MET Institute of Pharmacy, Dr. Abha Doshi proposed vote of thanks. Dr. B. N Pandey thanked the organisers and the speakers on behalf of ISRB.
