MMS: Masters in Management Studies
Two-year, full-time, post-graduate programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai and
Approved by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) &
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)

Programme Objective

The Masters in Management Studies is a comprehensive Post Graduate Degree programme that aims to develop students into sharp and successful managers. The MMS is a two-year full time degree programme affiliated to the Mumbai University.

MET students undergo case studies, live-projects, role-play, paper presentations, discussions, brain storming exercises etc. to sharpen the area between their ears. The programme results in excellent placement opportunities.

Graduate with minimum 50% of marks in the aggregate (45% for Reserved Category). Students appearing for Final year can also apply.

Selection Procedure

The admissions to the MMS programme are governed by the selection procedure as described in the “Information Brochure – Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra State, Mumbai – MAH-MBA/MMS” which is issued every year by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra.

It is also displayed on the website dte.org.in/mba. DTE Maharashtra have not yet issued Information Brochure for the MMS/MBA batch 2013-15.  The selection procedure for batch 2013-15 can be confirmed only after the DTE publishes its brochure for the current year admissions.

The latest Notification No. 2A/ADM/2013/560 Dated 14th March, 2013 of DTE gives some information regarding admission to MMS/MBA programme 2013-15, copy of which circular is enclosed (“A”).  In Para three of the letter, DTE states that “This Directorate has already notified that admission to all AICTE approved management courses will be carried out through CMAT merit list only from the academic year 2013-14 and aspiring candidates should note that this Directorate shall not conduct CET.”

The news section of dte.org.in/mba website, states the following:

  • Admission to first year of MBA/MMS/PGDM/PGDBM will be on the basis of CMAT conducted by AICTE.
  • Online application will be called for GD/PI for the eligible candidates.
  • Detailed schedule and Notification will be published on the website.

Thus, the detailed procedure will only be known when the Information Brochure 2013-14 will be published by DTE.

Programme Outline

Just as the selection procedure the course is also rigorous and exhaustive. The programme is conducted on a semester basis with four semesters spread over two academic years. The duration of each semester is around 15 working weeks. The first year lays the foundation in the fundamentals of management, while the second year offers a specialisation in a particular discipline namely Marketing, Finance, Operations, Personnel or Systems This makes the students develop a capacity to think, to learn, to innovate and to apply this knowledge to real life.
